Early Access: Ultra.sh is currently in early access. Features, plans, and documentation may change as we continue to improve the service. If anything here does not match what you see, open a support ticket and let us know.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a verification step to your Ultra.sh client area login. In addition to your password, you enter a code from an authenticator app. This guide explains how to enable 2FA and save your backup code.
Prerequisites
- Access to your Ultra.sh client area account.
- An authenticator app that supports time-based codes, such as Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile.
- A secure place to store the backup code, such as a password manager.
Open Security Settings
- Sign in to the Ultra.sh client area.
- Open Security settings.
- Find Two-factor authentication and click Click here to enable.
Set Up Your Authenticator
- Select Time Based Tokens if the setup asks you to choose an authentication method.
- Click Get Started.
- Open your authenticator app and add a new account by scanning the QR code shown in the client area.
- Enter the current six-digit code from your authenticator app into the verification field.
- Click Submit to confirm the setup.
Save Your Backup Code
- Save the displayed Backup Code in a secure location before closing the setup window. It provides an alternative way to verify your login if your authenticator is unavailable.
- Keep the backup code accessible without relying only on the device that holds your authenticator.
- Click Close when you have saved the code.
- Confirm that Security settings shows 2FA as enabled.
- Sign out and sign in again to confirm that your password and authenticator code work.
Sign In with 2FA
- Enter your account email address and password in the client area.
- When prompted, enter the current code from the authenticator entry you created for Ultra.sh.
- If a code is about to expire, wait for the next code before submitting it.
Enabling client area 2FA does not configure 2FA for SSH or applications inside your VPS. You remain responsible for securing the VPS operating system and its software.
Troubleshooting
- The code is rejected: Check that you selected the correct Ultra.sh entry in your authenticator. Set your device date and time automatically, then try a fresh code.
- You cannot use your authenticator: Use the backup-code option on the login screen and follow the recovery prompts. After regaining access, review your 2FA setup and securely save any replacement backup code provided.
- You lost both your authenticator and backup code: Contact support through the Ultra.sh ticket page and explain that you cannot access your account. Account ownership must be verified before login protection can be changed. If the ticket page requires sign-in, check the client area login page for an available support contact option.
- The enable option is unavailable: Contact support to report that 2FA is unavailable in Security settings.
Never send your password, authenticator setup secret, current authentication code, or backup code in a support ticket.
