Reset the Root Password

Early Access: Ultra.sh is currently in early access. Features, plans, and documentation may change as we continue to improve the service. If anything here does not match what you see, open a support ticket and let us know.

Reset the Root Password

This guide explains how to reset the root password of your Ultra.sh VPS from the panel. The new password is shown once and is never stored, so save it as soon as it appears.

Reset the Root Password

  • Go to the Ultra.sh website and sign in to your client area.
  • Open the 1 Services tab and select your VPS.
  • Click 2 Log in to panel. This will redirect you to the panel. If prompted, confirm that the email shown is the one associated with your account.

  • Select your VPS from the Servers list.
  • Click 3 Settings, then open the 4 Security tab and use the 5 Reset root password button.

  • Copy the new password and store it in a secure place, such as a password manager. The password is not shown again.

Warning: The new root password is shown only once and is never stored.

Configure Password Login over SSH

The Password login over SSH switch in Settings > Security controls whether the root password can be used to log in to your VPS over SSH.

  • When the switch is on, anyone with the root password can log in over SSH. The change applies immediately and needs the server to be running.
  • When the switch is off, the root password does not work over SSH. Log in with a key instead.
  • Resetting the root password does not change the switch, so the new password works over SSH only while the switch is on.
