Early Access: Ultra.sh is currently in early access. Features, plans, and documentation may change as we continue to improve the service. If anything here does not match what you see, open a support ticket and let us know.
Access the Console
The console opens a browser-based terminal connected to your VPS, so you can manage the server without SSH. Use it when SSH fails, such as after a firewall change. The panel offers two console types: xterm.js and noVNC.
Prerequisites
- The VPS must be running. To start it, see Start, Stop, or Restart a VPS.
- You need the root password to log in. The panel shows a new root password only once, when it is generated.
- To set a new root password, go to Settings > Security > Reset root password in the panel. For details, see Reset the Root Password.
Choose a Console Type
- xterm.js: Fast and text-native. It needs a serial console, so it does not work with every operating system. Use it when you need to paste text.
- noVNC: Works with every operating system. Paste is not supported, so type your password or use xterm.js.
Open the Console
- Sign in to the client area, open the Services tab, select your VPS, and click Log in to panel. For details, see Access the Panel.
- Click Confirm and sign in on the "Confirm your account" screen.
- Click your server card in the Servers list.
- Find the Console section on the Overview tab.
- Click Open console under the console type you want. The console page opens in the same tab.
- Switch between xterm.js and noVNC at the top left of the console page if you need the other console type.
- Click Open in new window or Fullscreen at the top right of the console page if you want a larger view.
Log In to the Server
- Wait for the "Connected to console" message. Connecting can take a moment.
- Press Enter if the xterm.js console is blank. xterm.js starts with a blank serial terminal and shows the login prompt after you press Enter.
- Enter
rootas the username, unless you created another user. - Type your password, then press Enter. The console does not show characters as you type the password. noVNC does not support paste, so use xterm.js if you need to paste the password.
Troubleshooting
- Open in new window does not open a window: allow pop-ups for the panel in your browser.
- xterm.js stays blank after you press Enter: your operating system may not expose a serial console, so switch to noVNC.
- The console is frozen or does not connect: click Open console again. If it still fails, try another browser.
- Keyboard shortcuts stop working: click inside the console to give it focus.
- Text does not paste in noVNC: noVNC does not support paste, so switch to xterm.js or type the text.
- SSH still does not connect after you fix the server in the console: see Troubleshooting SSH Connections.
